The products Dekalb Molded Plastics manufactures, we help to increase highway safety for drivers, construction workers and pedestrians. Among the hundreds of products we design, fabricate and distribute at our factory, we create several different items that help ensure roadway caution and safety.
DeKalb has designed several innovative products, with our multi-point foam injection process, that increase highway safety. Among those products are:
- Plastic Traffic Cones
- Crash Guard Plastic Barrels
- Plastic Guard Rail Cross Sections
- Plastic Tactile Warning Devices
Plastic Traffic Cones are designed to block off sections of the roadway where drivers should not enter. Often, this is for the safety of the driver (to avoid a patch of road that isn’t safe); other times, this is for the safety of road workers (to keep drivers clear of an area where workers may be present).
Crash Guard Plastic Barrels are built to prevent fatal car accidents. Crashes do happen, but when they do, we want to ensure that cars and drivers do not crash into concrete medians or barriers. Crash Guard Barrels are set up so that a car can hit them instead of the medians and barriers. Barrels absorb some of the impact of the crashes, helping to protect the drivers and passengers in the vehicle and hopefully lessen the damage of the crash.
The Plastic Guard Rail Cross Sections that DeKalb designs and manufactures are intended to increase the strength and durability of metal guard rails which line the edge of high drop-off areas and other congested places. If a vehicle crashes into a guard rail, the hope is that the guard rail will be strong enough to withstand the impact of the crash and help keep the car on the road, reducing the risk of flipping and other dangers, such as hitting immobile objects or pedestrians. The Plastic Cross Sections that DeKalb manufactures for these guard rails are made with our injection molded process, allowing these pieces to be as durable as possible, in order to withstand the impact of a car crash.
Plastic Tactile Warning Devices are rough pads placed in crosswalk sections of roadways. These pads are designed to help pedestrians be aware of where they are walking (especially in the case of a visually impaired pedestrian) and to help prevent slipping and falling by keeping pedestrians alert.
DeKalb Molded Plastics hopes to increase roadway safety by making our products better, stronger and longer lasting than products that have been previously used. We want to continue to research newer and better technologies to make the road safer for us and safer for our children who will one day be driving on their own.
