About Us
Community Involvement
DeKALB Molded Plastics is proud of the Butler area and Auburn County in Indiana. We validate our pride by giving back to the community in many ways, not just financial. The greatest influence is served in the donated human hours that the employees bestow. DeKALB strongly encourages all employees to find an area they're passionate about and determine a method of involvement that makes the community better. The result is a dedicated collection of employees from a company that is a leading contributor to community involvement.

Every year DeKALB employees volunteer to help with community based projects supported through the United Way. Approximately 15 employees volunteer to help with projects throughout the community such as, building handicap ramps for citizens in need, cleaning & painting, and even projects needed for the local animal humane shelter. DeKALB employees are paid their normal wages while helping the community. Each year the United Way program of Dekalb County recognizes companies and organizations that have shown outstanding support. DeKALB's most honorable awards are Spirit Award which is given to organizations who achieve outstanding results in their United Way campaigns and the Gold Award which honors outstanding volunteerism.
DeKALB has supported the Big Brothers Big Sisters program by participating in the "Bowl for Kids Sake" annual event with two or more teams. Several employees demonstrate involvement in the "Lunch Buddy" program which pairs a caring adult with an elementary student who needs a positive role model in his/her life. DeKALB recognizes that children are the future and research has proven that children who have a caring adult in their lives are more likely to stay in school, and less likely to turn to drugs, alcohol, and violence.
For the past three years DeKALB has hosted blood drives at the plant. The bloodmobile comes to the facility twice a year, opening the doors up to not just employees but to the community including other area manufacturers. The average percentage of employees who donate is 35-40% of the companies.
As mentioned earlier, DeKALB's recycling committee recently worked with the Habitat for Humanity for recycling aluminum cans. Several employees volunteered to build a recycling center for aluminum cans on Saturday's during their own time. The recycling center is located at DeKALB for the community to recycle their aluminum cans. The cans are then donated to Habitat for Humanity to support their agency. Not only is DeKALB focused on helping the environment and creating community habits among employees, but every can recycled helps fund homes for needy families.
The Relay for Life was held in May this year at DeKALB High School for a 24 hour walk for Hope around the high school track. DeKALB had a team of 11 employees. It was the first time the company had a team for this event. One of the employees suffered a heart attack a couple of weeks prior to the event but was still able to participate in the event (even walking more miles than other team members for the event) to support the cause.
